About East Java

East Java
and its people
East Java is one of the Republic of Indonesia’s 33 provinces,
occupying an area of some 48.000 km2 just south of the equator.
Including the island of Madura, it accounts for a little more
than a third of Java’s total land surface and supports a
population of almost 33,000,000 inhabitants. To the east, across
a narrow strait, lies the island of Bali; to the west are the
provinces of Central Java and the Special Region of Jogjakarta.
The capital city of East Java is Surabaya.
Currency
The rupiah (currency code IDR) is the currency of Indonesia. It
is normally abbreviated to “Rp”
Visa Requirements
Visitors to Indonesia must pass a valid passport with a minimum
validity of six months. It is also advised that you inquired at
your nearest Indonesian Embassy about visa requirements before
travelling.
Language
Bahasa is the official language in Indonesia. The official language
for the congress is English and Bahasa.
Time Differences
Surabaya - Indonesia is + 7 hours ahead of GMT.
Climate
Surabaya has two seasons, rainy and dry season. The rainy seasons
starts from October to April, and the dry season begins from May
to September. The average temperature is around 15,20 degree Celcius
(minimum) and 34,20 degree Celcius (maximum). The heat may reach
33.0 degree Celcius or drop to 22.0 degree Celcius at the lowest.
The humidity is arround 40 to 97 %.

For international delegates, Surabaya has an international airport
which serve many international airways services : Garuda (GA) -
SILK Air (MI) - Malaysia Airline (MH) - Royal Brunei (BI) - Cathay
Pacific (CX) - Eva Air ( BR) - VAW Air (VF) - Air Asia (AK) - Lion
Air (JT). Dosmestic delegates can reach Surabaya by national airways
service, land transport (train, bus, private vehicles) and sea transport.
